An alternative to 3M 5413 polyimide tape
3M 5413 is the amber polyimide tape with silicone adhesive used for PCB solder masking and high-temperature insulation. ETS supplies the same construction, single-side polyimide tape (AHS-92xx), from Toronto, with custom slitting and die-cut masks.

Check before you switch
Film and total thickness. 5413 uses a 1 mil film. If your process depends on a specific thickness (for example in a winding stack), confirm ours matches before switching.
Dielectric strength. If the tape is part of an insulation system, compare breakdown voltage on both datasheets and follow your own approval process.
Peel after the solder pass. Run a sample through your wave or reflow profile and check for residue on gold fingers and pads.
Full product detail is in our Polyimide tape guide.
Where it is used
- Masking gold fingers, pads and connectors during wave soldering
- Insulating motor and coil windings
- Fixing and insulating battery tabs
- Die-cut masks and dots for repeat boards
Test it before you buy
Send us the 3M 5413 size you use now, your process temperature and your substrate. We will send a free sample of AHS-92xx with its datasheet so you can run it on your own parts. In the GTA we can drop it off in person.
Frequently asked questions
Is AHS-92xx the same as 3M 5413?
It has the same construction, polyimide film with a silicone adhesive, and the same 260°C continuous rating, but it is not a certified equivalent. Compare thickness and dielectric strength on both datasheets and test a sample on your line.
Is it real Kapton?
No. Kapton is DuPont’s brand of polyimide film. ETS supplies Kapton-type polyimide tape that is not DuPont-branded.
Can you supply die-cut masks instead of rolls?
Yes. We die-cut polyimide masks, dots and shields from your drawing or a sample board, from prototype to production quantities.
How do I get a sample?
