An alternative to 3M 1350 polyester electrical tape

3M 1350 is the polyester film electrical tape used to wrap coils, transformers and motor windings. ETS supplies electrical mylar tape (AHS-42xx) from Toronto for the same jobs, in the widths and colours you use.

Compare both datasheets and test a sample on your own process before switching.

Check before you switch

Insulation system approval. If your coils or transformers are built to a recognized insulation system, a tape change may need approval. Check before switching.

Adhesive behaviour. Compare how each adhesive behaves with your varnish or impregnation process.

Colour and width. Tell us the colours and widths you use for identification and we will match them.

Full product detail is in our Motor & transformer insulation guide.

Where it is used

  • Outer wrap on coils and transformers
  • Layer and lead insulation
  • Harness wrap and bundling
  • Colour coding in assemblies

Test it before you buy

Send us the 3M 1350 size you use now, your process temperature and your substrate. We will send a free sample of AHS-42xx with its datasheet so you can run it on your own parts. In the GTA we can drop it off in person.

Frequently asked questions

Is AHS-42xx the same as 3M 1350?

Both are polyester film electrical tapes rated to 130°C, but they are not certified equivalents. Insulation systems often need approval before a material change, so compare the datasheets and test a sample.

Is it flame-resistant?

Our electrical mylar tape is listed as moisture- and flame-resistant on the manufacturer’s data. Confirm the rating your product needs against the datasheet.

Can you supply the widths and colours we use?

Yes. Send the widths, colours and roll lengths you buy today and we will quote.

How do I get a sample?
