An alternative to 3M 5451 PTFE glass cloth tape
3M 5451 is the brown PTFE-impregnated glass cloth tape found on heat sealers and pressing equipment. ETS supplies the same construction, PTFE-coated glass cloth tape (AHS-96xx), from Toronto, cut to your bar width.

Check before you switch
Thickness. Heavier cloth lasts longer on a hot bar but transfers heat more slowly. Tell us the sealer and the material you seal.
Width. Measure the bar or jaw and we will slit to that width, so there is no trimming on the line.
Sealing temperature and cycle rate. Both drive how often the tape wears out. Share them and we will suggest a grade.

Where it is used
- Covering heat-sealer bars and impulse-sealer jaws
- Release surfaces on laminating and pressing equipment
- Mold release in composite work
- Separating parts in hot processes
Test it before you buy
Send us the 3M 5451 size you use now, your process temperature and your substrate. We will send a free sample of AHS-96xx with its datasheet so you can run it on your own parts. In the GTA we can drop it off in person.
Frequently asked questions
Is AHS-96xx the same as 3M 5451?
It has the same construction (PTFE-coated glass cloth with an adhesive backing) and the same 260°C continuous rating, but it is not a certified equivalent. Test a sample on your sealer before switching.
How often should heat sealer tape be replaced?
When it is scorched, torn or no longer releases cleanly. Worn tape gives poor seals and lets material stick to the bar. See our step-by-step guide to replacing heat sealer tape.
Can you cut it to my sealer bar width?
Yes. Send the bar width and length and we will quote custom slitting.
